Body, movement, contraction, retention and flow are elements present in Dora Smék's work based on different types of media, such as sculptures, installations, photographs, videos and performances. Smék's research is often related to the processes of adaptation of the body in stressful situations, especially with regard to the female body.

Smék holds a master's degree in Visual Arts from the State University of Campinas (Brazil) and a degree in Corporal Arts from the Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo (Brazil).
In 2021 he presented 'La danza del cuerpo sin cabeza', Smék's first solo exhibition at Central Galeria.
